FEBRUARY 2011 – Here we are with a surprise!

Back to our school, overwhelmed by emotion and moved by the will to do more and more, but with something new: Marta Mattarina, a friend who will spend the next three months at the school, to enrich our project and offer affection to our children.

Ten days are nothing to start up all our projects, so, with no waste of time, we hand over to the dispensary the medical items offered by Dima S.p.a. and we give instructions to the persons in charge on how to use the new devices; we carry out a medical check-up to some of our children; we collect quotations for some restructuring works, the main of which for the purchase and installation of the external floors, to save children from the risk to eventually catch the Tunga penetrans, a very common flea in Africa that, if not taken good and prompt care of, might lead to bad infections; we buy books, toys and stationeries for the children but most of all, we buy their first DVD reader for them to watch movies and cartoons; we collect all necessary information to give birth to the project “From Nursery to High School”, by visiting primary schools, studying the rates and enrolling all our children.

In one year time the number of children at the S.P.&K. Nursery School has increased: at today we guest 70 children and we have committed ourselves to take care of the 23 children who have terminated their stay at our school but to whom we want to ensure a future where education has the main role, that is: “From Nursery to College”.

We’ll keep you posted.
